Scientists are using fruit flies to figure out why many people with autism are easily overwhelmed by loud sounds, bright lights, strong odors or simply being touched.

My heart beats a little faster
When I think of Drosophila Melanogaster.
Hail to thee high-bred patrician
You get more care than the lab technician
Who labors endlessly to see
The figure of your progeny.
